About
Charlotte Ribeyrol is Professor of 19th-century British Literature at Sorbonne University and heads the ERC-funded CHROMOTOPE project investigating the impact of industrial-era color innovations on literature and art.
Her research examines Victorian reinterpretations of classical polychromy through archaeological discoveries, analyzing how synthetic dyes influenced Pre-Raphaelite and Impressionist movements. Current work explores intersections between chromatic technologies, environmental concerns, and artistic expression.
The CHROMOTOPE exhibition at Oxford's Ashmolean Museum showcases her team's findings on chromolithography, synthetic pigments, and international exhibitions as drivers of modern color perception.
