Charlotte Orzel is Visiting Assistant Professor in Tulane University's Department of Communication. Her research explores media aesthetics, histories, and globalization, with focus on film exhibition technologies, industry practices, and cultural contexts of cinemagoing.
Current research examines:
- Historical development of theater chains
- Global expansion of exhibition networks
- IMAX technology and localization
- Media distribution windowing strategies
- Trade conventions as industry sites
The book project Cinema Circuits: Domestic Theater Chains and Global Exhibition Practice analyzes how major exhibition companies shaped film consumption patterns in North America and internationally. Teaching includes courses on cinema history, global film exhibition, and media analysis.
