Charlotte Coleman

Dr. Charlotte Coleman is the Deputy Head of the Sheffield Institute of Social Sciences and a Forensic Psychologist specializing in Youth and Violent Crime. She leads on Student Experience and Outcomes, supporting institutional development. Her research focuses on child eyewitness testimony, youth crime prevention, and forensic psychology. She actively collaborates with police forces and organizations to address knife crime, domestic abuse, and intervention strategies.

Dr. Coleman holds a PhD in Children’s Eyewitness Testimony and an MSc. She is an experienced lecturer in Psychology, emphasizing applied skills and academic advising. Her professional affiliations include executive roles in the Society for Evidence-Based Policing and the Youth Justice Board.

Her recent work includes the UKRI-funded 3PO project exploring police officers' online harms experiences and evaluations of youth violence programs. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
