Charlotte Bridgeman

Charlotte Bridgeman is a Senior Lecturer in Primary Education at the University of Winchester, affiliated with the Faculty of Education and the Arts. She specializes in mathematics education and professional studies, leading modules in these areas. As Priority Lead for Primary Assessment and a member of the Centre for Professional Learning in Education, she focuses on enhancing teaching practices. Previously, she accumulated eight years of teaching experience in an inner-city primary school, leading Computing, History, and Mathematics departments. Her work with the Solent Maths Hub and her role as a Mathematics Mastery Specialist involves organizing workshops and supporting ten Hampshire schools in adopting mastery mathematics approaches.

Her research interests center on mathematical proficiency in primary education, including a Master’s study examining Baroody’s Phase Framework to address misconceptions in basic addition facts. Currently, she explores procedural fluency through action research, continuing collaborative efforts with regional schools. Charlotte’s expertise bridges classroom practice and pedagogical innovation, emphasizing teacher development and evidence-based strategies.
