Charlotte Alston is a Professor of History and Head of the Department of Humanities at Northumbria University since 2009. Her research focuses on Russia's relations with the West, transnational movements, and the history of revolutions and civil wars. She authored seminal works on the Russian emigration, Tolstoyan thought, and post-World War I peace settlements.

Research Interests: Alston's work spans Anglo-Russian alliances, the international influence of Tolstoy, and the Baltic States' post-WWI sovereignty.
