Charlotta Plejert is a Senior Associate Professor at Linköping University, affiliated with the Department of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences (BKV) and the Division of Sensory Organs and Communication (SOK). Her research focuses on speech and language impairments, dementia, multilingual interaction, and disability studies, with a methodological emphasis on Multimodal Conversation Analysis and ethnography.
Her work examines recurrent interactional practices for persons with communicative impairments and their relatives, emphasizing remaining capacities over deficits. She co-edits the Journal of Interactional Research in Communication Disorders and explores multilingualism in dementia care, a critical yet understudied area.
Recent publications analyze clinical practices for developmental language disorders (2025), social interaction strategies for deafblindness (2024), and interpreter-mediated dementia assessments (2023). She contributes to networks like the Dementia Communications Research Network and Nordic Network of Interaction Studies on Communication Impairment.
