Charles Starkey is an Associate Professor of Philosophy in the Department of Philosophy and Religion at Clemson University's College of Arts and Humanities. He also serves as the Director of the Program in Philosophy.

His primary research focuses on emotion theory, moral psychology, and the intersection of moral experience with perception and cognition. Additional interests include the psychology of courage, environmental ethics, and the application of traditional ethical theory to empirical psychological research.

Starkey has previously taught at Washington University in St. Louis and Iowa State University. He coached the national champion Clemson University Ethics Bowl public policy debate team, demonstrating his commitment to student engagement and applied ethics education.
