Prof. Dr. Charles R. Wilson is the Kelly Gene Cook Sr. Professor of History and Director of the Center for the Study of Southern Culture at the University of Mississippi. He held a visiting professorship at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz during Summer Semester 2009, contributing through seminars, public lectures, and participation in a summer school organized by the American Studies Department.
His research focuses on Southern Studies, redefining the field through seminal works like the Encyclopedia of Southern Culture (1989), which catalyzed global perspectives on Southern cultural connections.
