Charles Musser is a Professor of American Studies, Film Studies, and Theater Studies at Yale University. He directs the Summer Film Institute and has authored seminal works on early cinema, including The Emergence of Cinema: The American Screen to 1907 and Politicking and Emergent Media: US Presidential Elections of the 1890s. A prolific documentarian, he produced An American Potter and directed Errol Morris: A Lightning Sketch. His research spans film historiography, documentary production, and media history.
