Charlene Shannon-McCallum

Dr. Charlene Shannon-McCallum is Professor and Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs in UNB's Faculty of Kinesiology. Her research examines family leisure dynamics, leisure education, and youth development, with emphasis on parental influences on children's physical activity and addressing bullying in recreational settings.

She currently leads the leisure education component of the Pediatric Lifestyle Management Program, developing interventions for overweight youth. Her publications investigate constraints to youth volunteering, girls' participation in competitive dance, and mothers' experiences facilitating active leisure for overweight children.
