Charlene Baker

Charlene Baker is a Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Psychology at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. She has held faculty positions since completing her PhD in Community Psychology at Georgia State University in 2002, with prior academic training including an MA in Community Psychology (Georgia State University, 1999) and a BS in Psychology (Michigan State University, 1996).

Her research focuses on the ecological context of social problems, particularly intersections like domestic violence/homelessness and dating violence/substance use. A central theme is understanding contextual factors in intimate partner violence prevention and disaster recovery, emphasizing cultural grounding in intervention design. She teaches courses in social psychology, community psychology seminars, and community psychology research.
