Chao Xu

Dr. Chao Xu is a Research Professor in the Department of Geography and the Environment at Texas Tech University (TTU). His research focuses on coastal geomorphology, environmental geography, and geospatial technologies. He specializes in analyzing tidal flat dynamics, urban expansion impacts, and wetland ecosystems using advanced GIS frameworks and remote sensing tools.

Dr. Xu’s work addresses critical environmental challenges such as coastal erosion, nutrient fluxes in marine systems, and the interplay between human activities and natural landscapes. His recent studies include spatiotemporal assessments of tidal flats along the U.S. coastline and seasonal wetland monitoring in the Everglades.
