Dr. Chao Chen is a Senior Lecturer in AI and Data Analytics at RMIT University. He earned his PhD in Information Technology from Deakin University in 2017. Prior to joining RMIT, he worked as a Data Scientist at Telstra (2016–2018), followed by roles as a Research Fellow at Swinburne University of Technology and Senior Lecturer at James Cook University.
His research focuses on interdisciplinary work between cybersecurity and artificial intelligence (AI), including applications of AI for cybersecurity and addressing security vulnerabilities in AI systems. He has published over 60 papers in high-impact venues such as IJCAI, RAID, ESORICS and IT Professional, where one paper was featured in 2016. His work has been cited over 2000 times, with an h-index of 23 (Google Scholar), and he has secured more than $3 million in research funding.
