Chanley Rainey

Dr. Chanley Rainey is an Associate Professor of Political Science at the College of Arts & Sciences, Mississippi University for Women, and serves as Director of the Center for Women’s Research & Public Policy. Her work bridges contentious politics, feminist theory, and comparative politics.

• Education: B.A. in Political Science and English from Huntingdon College, Ph.D. in Political Science (Comparative Politics) from the University of Alabama.

Research Focus: Dr. Rainey investigates how women's movements shape political discourse and public policy, particularly around reproductive health, family law, and multicultural governance. Her projects explore intersections of gender, race, ethnicity, and religion in contentious politics.

Notable Work: Her research includes co-authored studies on abortion discourse (2016) and multicultural marriage age negotiations in Trinidad (2014), presented at the Midwest Political Science Association Conference.
