Chanki Moon

Dr. Chanki Moon is an Assistant Professor in Criminology & Psychology at the Department of Law and Criminology, Royal Holloway, University of London, and Deputy Director of the Institute for the Study of Power, Crime, and Society. His research focuses on cultural influences on power dynamics, social hierarchies, and political behaviors, with a particular emphasis on cross-cultural comparisons. He holds editorial roles at Current Psychology, the British Journal of Social Psychology, and the International Journal of Conflict Management.

Education: PhD in Social Psychology (University of Kent, UK), MA/BA in Psychology and Sociology (Chonnam National University, South Korea), and Fellow of Higher Education (Advance HE).

Research Interests: Investigates how culture shapes psychological processes and behaviors across individual, group, and societal levels. Key areas include power and incivility, political violence, collective actions, and cultural mechanisms of radicalization. Additional foci include power distance, social dominance, justice perceptions, and trust.

Recent work highlights cross-national studies on collective efficacy, institutional trust, and pandemic-related beliefs. His articles explore topics like civic honesty, pandemic behavior, and cultural variations in communication strategies.
