Changyou Wang is a Professor of Mathematics at Purdue University's Department of Mathematics, College of Science. His primary research interests include Partial Differential Equations, Calculus of Variations, Geometric Analysis, and applications of Geometric Measure Theory. He holds a Ph.D. from Rice University (1996), M.S. from Academia Sinica (1992), and B.S. from Beijing Normal University (1989).
- Awards: Alfred P. Sloan Dissertation Fellowship (1995-1996), AMS Centennial Fellowship (1999-2000), IMA New Directions Research Professorship (2009-2010), Simons Fellowship in Mathematics (2012-2013).
- Grants: Multiple NSF grants including DMS-2101224 (2021-2024), DMS-1764417 (2018-2022), and others focused on PDEs and variational problems.
- Teaching: Recently taught MA 303 (Differential Equations), MA 643 (PDE Methods II), and other advanced courses in PDEs and analysis.
- Publications: Over 150 peer-reviewed articles, including works on harmonic maps, liquid crystal flows, and Aronsson equations. Recent topics include nonautonomous predator-prey models and geometric PDEs.
- Professional Activities: Editor for Journal of Elliptic and Parabolic Equations, organizer of Midwest PDE conferences, and active in international collaborations.
His research bridges theoretical mathematics with applications in materials science and ecology, emphasizing rigorous analysis of PDE systems and their singularities.
