Changhyeon Kim

Changhyeon Kim is an Assistant Professor at the University of Connecticut, specializing in controlled environment agriculture, crop physiology, and image-based phenotyping. His work focuses on optimizing plant growth through advanced imaging technologies and environmental controls. He is affiliated with the Agricultural Biotechnology Lab, where he develops low-cost multispectral systems and studies plant stress responses.

• Education: PhD in Horticulture (2022, University of Georgia), MS in Plant Science (2018, North Dakota State University), and prior degrees from Chungnam National University.

His research integrates engineering and biology to enhance crop productivity and resilience. Key themes include anthocyanin quantification via imaging, light environment optimization for tomato cultivation, and raspberry cultivar evaluation in diverse climates. He has developed cost-effective phenotyping tools and macro-mesocosm systems for studying crop dynamics.

Recent studies highlight applications of automated imaging for canopy size and pigmentation analysis, as well as theoretical models for light-driven biomass conversion. His work bridges academic research with practical agricultural solutions.
