Chandak Sengoopta is Professor of History at Birkbeck, University of London's School of Historical Studies. His research examines the history of medicine, science in colonial India, and the cultural impact of filmmaker Satyajit Ray. Current projects analyze Ray's work through historical and ideological lenses, exploring intersections of Bengali, Indian, and universal humanist identities.
