Chance Brooks

Chance Brooks is a Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Animal and Food Sciences at Texas Tech University, part of the Davis College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources. He has held teaching and research positions since 2003, focusing on meat science and food safety.

• Education: B.S. (1994), M.S. (1997) in Animal Science from Texas Tech University; Ph.D. (2000) in Meat Science from Texas A&M University.

His research interests include meat packaging, food safety, and value-added beef product development, particularly exploring methods to enhance meat quality and shelf life. He has advised over 100 undergraduate and graduate students.

Dr. Brooks previously served as an Assistant Professor at Oklahoma State University before returning to Texas Tech in 2003. Currently, he also holds the administrative role of Interim Department Chair.
