Cesar Guzman-Concha is a Research Fellow at the Scuola Normale Superiore (Pisa) and part of the Istituto di Scienze Umani e Sociali in Florence, Italy. He holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Barcelona (2012), a MA in Latin American History, and a BA in Sociology from the University of Chile. Previously, he served as a postdoctoral fellow at Freie Universität Berlin.
His research focuses on contentious politics, transregional social movements, radical left parties, and research methods like Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA). Current work explores the sociopolitical consequences of neoliberalism, particularly student movements' responses to reforms in Europe and Latin America. He has received grants from the European Commission (Alßan programme), DAAD, FURS, AGAUR (Catalonia), and CLACSO (Latin America).
Key research interests include the interplay between social movements and political systems, with recent attention to comparative analysis of protest dynamics and institutional responses. His work bridges theoretical frameworks with empirical studies on mobilization and policy impacts.
