Cerian Griffiths

Cerian Griffiths is an Associate Professor in the Law Department at Northumbria University, specializing in financial crime, legal history, and criminal justice system dynamics. She leads impactful projects like NHS fraud responses and digital forensics collaboration with the Home Office. Her work bridges legal practice and academia, with a focus on real-world policy impact. She holds a PhD from the University of Liverpool (2017) and has taught at institutions including Birkbeck College and Lancaster Law School.

Research interests include historical fraud prosecution (1760-1820), modern financial crime regulation, and digital evidence admissibility. She contributed to the EU’s 4th Anti-Money Laundering Directive compliance assessment and co-edited English Law and Colonial Connections (2023).
