Cemile Odunkiran

Cemile Odunkiran is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Turkish Language and Literature, Faculty of Literature, Istanbul University. Her work bridges Modern Turkish Literature, Literary Theory, and Philology, with a focus on the Second New Movement and interfaith influences in poetry.

• Education: PhD (2022), MA (2015), BA (2012) in Turkish Literature from Istanbul University

Research interests include:

• Modernist poetry and narrative techniques
• Religious symbolism in Turkish secular poetry
• Urban themes in contemporary literature
• Comparative studies of French and Turkish modernism

Her recent publications analyze intersections of Charles Baudelaire and Ece Ayhan, Bilge Karasu's visual narratives, and urban escape motifs in Second New poetry.
