Celeste Lay is a Professor of Political Science at Tulane University's School of Liberal Arts. Her research examines political behavior through the lenses of socialization, public policy, and gender dynamics.
Key research areas include how children develop political attitudes, the impact of immigration and education policies on communities, and gender disparities in political ambition. Her work combines ethnographic approaches with survey data to analyze voting behavior and policy implementation.
As director of Tulane's Summer Minor Program in U.S. Public Policy and co-director of the New Orleans Scholars Strategy Network, she bridges academic research and public engagement. Courses taught include Elections in America, Women and Public Policy, and Politics of Education Policy.
