Ce Zhang is the Neubauer Associate Professor of Computer Science at the University of Chicago. Previously, he held an Associate Professor position at ETH Zurich and served as CTO of Together, a company developing decentralized AI cloud infrastructure. His research focuses on resolving tensions between data, models, computation, and infrastructure to democratize AI, emphasizing data-centric, human-centric, and declaratively scalable machine learning systems.
He earned his PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University, both under the guidance of Christopher Ré. His work has been honored with prestigious awards and featured in outlets like Science, Nature, Communications of the ACM, and media such as WIRED and Quanta Magazine.
Ce currently serves as co-Editor-in-Chief of DMLR (Data-Centric Machine Learning Research), a journal under the JMLR family.
