Cay S Horstmann

Cay S Horstmann is a Professor of Computer Science at San José State University (SJSU), where he has taught for nearly 30 years. He holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Michigan (1987) and an M.S. in Computer Science from Syracuse University. His research and professional contributions span programming language design, educational materials development, and software engineering. He has authored influential textbooks including Core Java and Scala for the Impatient, and created open-source tools like the Violet UML editor and GridWorld framework.
