Catxere Casacio

Dr. Catxere Casacio is a Research Fellow in Experimental Quantum Biology at the University of Surrey, affiliated with the School of Biosciences and School of Mathematics and Physics. She leads the experimental component of the "Life on the Edge" project funded by the John Templeton Foundation, investigating quantum thermodynamics in living systems. Her work focuses on quantum coherence in biological processes using advanced microscopy techniques and molecular biology.

• Education: PhD in Physics (Brazil/International), MSc from Institut d'Optique (France), BEng and BSc from University of São Paulo (USP).
• Research: Quantum biology, quantum-enhanced microscopy, fluorescent protein dynamics, and optical tweezers for viscosity measurement.

Her research bridges quantum physics and biology, with breakthroughs in quantum microscopy enabling non-destructive imaging of delicate biological structures. Collaborations include institutions in Brazil, Spain, and Europe.
