Dr. Catrin Griffiths is a Senior Research Lecturer in Public Health at Swansea University, affiliated with the School of Health and Social Care and the Department of Public Health. With over 14 years of experience in applied research and teaching, her work spans health psychology, body image, and burn injury outcomes. She leads the CARe Burn Scales initiative, developing patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) to assess quality of life for burn injury patients and their caregivers. Her research also focuses on infant feeding, breastfeeding barriers, and the psychosocial impacts of visible differences from conditions like cancer or burn injuries.
Dr. Griffiths teaches on the MSc Public Health and Health Promotion and BSc Health and Social Care programs. She supervises undergraduate and postgraduate students, including doctoral candidates. Her expertise includes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), public health interventions, and the validation of healthcare outcome measures. Collaborations with international teams have expanded the CARe Burn Scales into Finnish and Norwegian translations.
Her publications emphasize burn injury care, maternal and infant health, and body image challenges. She actively seeks to improve healthcare equity through evidence-based practices, such as optimizing human milk donation systems and addressing disparities in access to care for marginalized groups like autistic parents and burn injury survivors.
