Cathy Taylor

Cathy Taylor is an Associate Professor in the Nursing Department at Swansea University, affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine Health and Life Science. She has been a faculty member since 2001 and currently serves as the program director for Health Visiting, School Nursing, and the MSc in Community & Primary Health Care Practice. Her career spans over 20 years in lecturing, focusing on public health, children’s health, and community nursing. She is committed to improving child and youth health in Wales, contributing to academic publications and a textbook chapter on children’s nursing.

Dr. Taylor’s teaching expertise includes modules addressing community nursing practices, mental health care, and public health strategies. Her work integrates policy frameworks like the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014 and the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015. She mentors colleagues to enhance teaching excellence and leads multidisciplinary initiatives to address health challenges in evolving community settings.

Her research interests emphasize collaborative approaches to healthcare, primary health improvement, and family-centered care. As a Senior Fellow of AdvanceHE, she champions pedagogical innovation. Her courses, such as ‘Fundamentals of Community Practice’ and ‘Research and Development in Community Nursing,’ reflect her commitment to evidence-based practice and professional accountability.
