Cathy Roy-Heaton is an Associate Professor of Finance at the Bissett School of Business, Mount Royal University. She joined in 2009 and holds a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Calgary, and a Bachelor of Commerce with Honours (Finance) from Queen's University.
Her expertise spans finance practice and education, with experience in banking, treasury management, liquidity management, currency/interest rate risk management, and pension plan management. She teaches courses such as Securities Analysis and Valuation and International Finance.
Dr. Roy-Heaton actively contributes to professional organizations: she serves on the Executive Team of the CFA Institute Disciplinary Review Committee (since 2014), co-chairs the CFA Society Calgary Women in Finance Conference (2016–ongoing), and chairs the University Finance Industry Partnership Council (since 2015). She also mentors the Bissett School of Business team for the CFA Institute Research Challenge.
Her institutional roles include membership in the University Strategic Resource Planning Task Force, Sabbatical Leave Committee (2014–2018), and Faculty Curriculum Committee. Her work bridges academic rigor with real-world financial practice.
