Cathy Matheson

Dr. Cathy Matheson is Senior Lecturer in Events Management at Queen Margaret University Business School and founding coordinator of the BA (Hons) Events Management programme. As full member of the Centre for Communication, Culture and Media Studies, her research examines intersections between events, regeneration and sustainability.

Her scholarly work investigates:

• Socioeconomic impacts of cultural events
• Sustainable event practices
• Community engagement strategies

She has published in Tourism Management, Leisure Studies, and Local Economy, exploring event-led regeneration strategies and community engagement models. Her conference contributions include presentations to Leisure Studies Association (LSA), Association for Events Management Education (AEME), and ATLAS.

She has served as Treasurer for AEME, organized the CHME annual conference at QMU (2013), and supervised doctoral research on events and sustainability.
