Professor Cathryn Costello holds the Chair in Global Refugee and Migration Law at University College Dublin. She directs the ERC-funded RefMig project on refugee mobility and leads the Volkswagen Foundation's AFAR initiative on algorithmic fairness in asylum systems. Her scholarship examines accountability in migration governance and effectiveness of international refugee law.

- Extraterritorial migration controls and human rights
- Non-refoulement jurisprudence across supranational courts
- Labor rights of migrant workers
She authored The Human Rights of Migrants and Refugees in European Law (OUP) and co-edited the Oxford Handbook of International Refugee Law. Current ERC-funded work investigates legal mobilization in refugee protection. Teaching includes advanced migration law and doctoral research methods.
