Cathleen Johnson is a Professor affiliated with the University of Arizona's Department of Economics. She serves as Director of the Office for Economic Education and teaches Experimental Economics in the Philosophy, Politics, Economics, and Law (PPEL) program. She also directs the Philosophy, Politics, and Economics Network and holds a Board position with the Arizona Council for Economic Education.
Johnson earned her Ph.D. in Economics from Virginia Tech (2000). She conducted post-doctoral research under Nobel Laureate Vernon Smith (2001) and led experimental economics initiatives at CIRANO (Montreal). Her career includes engineering work on the Segway prototype at Kollmorgan, academic leadership roles at BASIS Charter School System, and multi-million dollar research contracts with the Canadian government on risk attitudes.
Her research focuses on experimental economics methodologies and their application to real-world policy challenges. She has directed academic laboratories and engaged in public economics education through partnerships with non-profits and governmental bodies.
