Catherine Trask

Catherine Trask is an Associate Professor in the Division of Ergonomics at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, where she also serves as the incoming Program Director for the Masters in Technology, Work and Health. Her work bridges occupational health research with practical applications in workplace safety and inclusivity.

Dr. Trask holds professional training in Occupational Hygiene from the University of British Columbia and Kinesiology from Simon Fraser University, both in Canada. Prior to her current position, she spent a decade as a Professor and Canada Research Chair at the University of Saskatchewan's Canadian Centre for Health and Safety in Agriculture, following a research stint at the University of Gävle's Centrum för belastningsskadeforskning.

Her research focuses on occupational exposure assessment, injury epidemiology, and intervention evaluation, with current emphasis on the health effects of workplace discrimination and adapting ergonomics best practices for vulnerable or marginalized worker groups. This work challenges traditional approaches by prioritizing accessibility for populations often excluded from standard ergonomic solutions.

As an educator, she leads core courses such as Ergonomics for the Prevention of Musculoskeletal Disorders and Planning and Design of Physical Work Environments while examining degree projects. The Division of Ergonomics at KTH serves as her primary research and teaching base, advancing work environment science through interdisciplinary collaboration.
