Catherine Springer-Sapp is an Assistant Professor of Kinesiology at McDaniel College. She teaches courses including BIOL 2211 (Human Physiology) and BIOL 2011 (Human Physiology Lab). She holds a Ph.D. in Kinesiology from University of Maryland (2024), M.S. from East Carolina University (2019), and B.S. from Messiah University (2017).
Her research investigates age-related muscle deterioration (sarcopenia) and the effects of resistance exercise on mitochondrial structure and function. Using advanced microscopy techniques, she analyzes skeletal muscle mitochondria in both animal models and human subjects to understand energy production decline during aging.
Outside teaching, she participates in distance running events and maintains a large board game collection.
