Catherine Simon

Catherine Simon serves as a Lecturer in Criminology and Civic Mission Associate Graduate at Wrexham University, actively contributing to both academic instruction and community engagement initiatives since her appointment.

Her educational qualifications include:

• BA (Hons) in Criminology and Criminal Justice (2020), Wrexham University
• MA in Criminology and Criminal Justice (2022), Wrexham University
• Professional Certificate in Teacher Training (PCET) (2024)

Her research investigates the psychological and developmental consequences of intimate partner violence on children, with specialized focus on intergenerational transmission of trauma patterns. She actively promotes trauma-informed frameworks through community advocacy, emphasizing how adverse childhood experiences shape long-term behavioral and mental health outcomes.

Catherine serves as a Civic Mission Ambassador for the TrACE (Trauma and ACEs) Project since 2019, where she develops training programs for student advocates and implements trauma-sensitive practices across campus support systems. Her upcoming PhD pursuit aims to deepen understanding of trauma's longitudinal effects through expanded empirical research.

She maintains active involvement with the TrACE Project team, coordinating community outreach events and developing educational resources about trauma resilience within academic settings.
