Catherine Metcalfe

Catherine Metcalfe is a Senior Lecturer in Accounting and Finance at the Oxford Brookes Business School, Oxford Brookes University. She teaches undergraduate and postgraduate modules in management accounting, corporate finance, and international finance, and oversees student placements. Her professional background includes roles at Coopers & Lybrand (now PwC), Sumitomo Corporation’s financial services division, and freelance in-company training for non-financial managers. She holds a BSc in Economics from the London School of Economics and an MSc in Finance from the University of Leicester.

Her research focuses on cash management strategies in SMEs, as demonstrated by a 2011 survey of Thames Valley manufacturers and technology firms. She has presented findings to The Manufacturing Advisory Service and provided commentary on economic issues to BBC Radio Oxford and The Oxford Times. Her academic advising and training consultancy work span corporate finance education and financial systems management.
