Catherine Merle

Catherine Merle is an Associate Professor at Université de Bordeaux, affiliated with the IMS Bordeaux laboratory (Laboratoire de l'intégration, du matériau au système). She is a member of the Production Engineering research group and the MEI team.

Dr. Merle's research focuses on industrial engineering, particularly on performance evaluation in future factories and the transition to Industry 4.0. Her work explores multidimensional assessment methods that consider technological, financial, organizational, environmental, social, and societal impacts of industrial transformations. She develops frameworks for evaluating the complex interrelationships between different performance approaches and business evolution.

Her recent publications highlight trends in factory performance evaluation systems and the evolution of quality management toward Quality 4.0. These works demonstrate her expertise in developing comprehensive methodologies for assessing modern industrial settings. Both publications were presented at significant conferences in the field (CIGI QUALITA 2021 and MQDS 2023).

Dr. Merle has established a productive research collaboration with Marie-Hélène Gentil, with whom she has developed frameworks for understanding industrial performance in the context of digital transformation. Her research provides practical tools for industrial decision-makers navigating the complexities of modern manufacturing environments.
