Catherine Fougere Masters serves as a Visiting Fellow within the Health and Communities Programme at the Rights Lab, University of Nottingham. Currently based in Kathmandu, Nepal, she conducts field research on voluntary repatriation mechanisms for Nepalese women escaping commercial sexual exploitation in India.
Her research focuses on:
- Amplifying voices of women in active exploitation situations
- Evaluating Nepal's reintegration service efficacy
- Developing survivor-informed repatriation frameworks
- Addressing gender-based violence in migration contexts
Her work builds on five years of community development experience in Kolkata's red-light districts. As part of the University's Rights Lab beacon, she contributes to interdisciplinary efforts ending modern slavery through evidence-based policy solutions focused on health equity and community resilience.
