Catherine Deibel

Catherine Deibel is Professor of Physics at Louisiana State University's Department of Physics & Astronomy. She earned her PhD from Yale University in 2008.

Research focuses on experimental nuclear astrophysics, particularly nucleosynthesis in explosive stellar environments like novae and X-ray bursts. Her lab studies nuclear reactions involving radioactive nuclei using particle accelerators and specialized detectors at Argonne National Laboratory and other international facilities.

Publications address critical reaction measurements for stellar processes, including pioneering studies of proton capture reactions and fusion with exotic nuclei. Work contributes fundamental data for understanding element formation in stars.
