Catherine Blunk

Catherine Blunk serves as Associate Professor of French in the Department of French and Francophone Studies within Drury University's College of Languages and Literature. A faculty member since 2009, she was promoted to her current rank in 2016.

Her academic background includes:

• M.A. in French from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (1999)

Dr. Blunk specializes in medieval French literature, with foundational work on tournament poetics in late medieval romance and chronicle. Her current research investigates text-image dynamics and manuscript layout (mise en page) in late medieval manuscripts, examining how visual composition interacts with literary narrative to shape reader interpretation.

She actively mentors students through French conversation tables and study abroad programs, emphasizing immersive cultural engagement beyond traditional classroom settings.
