Catherine Archibald

Catherine Archibald is Professor of Law at University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, promoted to full professor in 2025. She holds LL.B. from University of Ottawa (2008), J.D. from Michigan State University (2007), and B.A. from Princeton University (2000).

Her research expertise includes:

• Gender and LGBTQ+ legal protections
• Constitutional law applications
• International environmental governance

Recent scholarship examines constitutional challenges to Florida's 'Don't Say Gay' legislation and international law perspectives on Russia's Ukraine invasion justifications. She teaches comparative legal writing, First Amendment law, and gender law courses.

Archibald has presented at AALS conferences on technology in legal education and serves on diversity committees. Her work contributes to feminist legal theory and international humanitarian law discourse.
