Cate Watkinson

Cate Watkinson is a Senior Lecturer and Fellow in Architectural Glass at the University of Sunderland, specializing in public realm glass artworks since 1990. As Programme Leader for MA Visual Practice and teaching lead for BA (Hons) Artist, Designer Maker: Glass and Ceramics, she bridges art education and professional practice. Her work emphasizes sustainability through recycled materials and photovoltaic integration, with projects ranging from church windows to urban furniture. She advises PhD/MPhil students and collaborates with institutions like the National Glass Centre. Notable projects include the Hartley Pit Disaster Memorial and solar cell seating installations.
