Dr Cat Kutay is a Senior Lecturer in Information Technology at Charles Darwin University's Faculty of Science and Technology. Her work focuses on integrating Indigenous knowledge systems into engineering and IT through digital tools, including language preservation platforms and culturally responsive educational technologies. She holds a PhD in Learning Technologies from the University of New South Wales (2006) and is an Honorary Visiting Scholar at UTS Sydney until 2027.
Her research spans Indigenous knowledge management, AI-driven language processing, and simulation-based learning. Key projects include:
- AR/VR training systems for remote Indigenous communities
- AI models for Indigenous language translation
- Game-based learning environments using artificial agents
