Dr. Cassie J Rowe serves as a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS), Bethesda, MD, and is a contractor with the Henry M. Jackson Foundation (HJF). She joined USUHS in 2019 under Dr. Thomas Davis' mentorship and is a key member of the Cellular Biology and Regenerative Medicine Program (CBRMP Lab).
Her academic credentials include a PhD in Behavior, Cognition, and Neuroscience (2019) and an M.S. (2016) from American University, and a B.S. in Biology from Rochester Institute of Technology (2014).
Dr. Rowe's research centers on traumatic injuries, with emphasis on neuromuscular extremity trauma and neurotrauma (blast, musculoskeletal tissue loss, hemorrhagic shock, burn injury). She explores sex differences in disease progression and neuro-immunological changes following polytrauma using rodent models to identify transcriptomic alterations and inflammatory pathways.
As laboratory manager, she oversees animal model development, surgeries, and molecular assays. She mentors research assistants and interns, and has secured internal and Sigma Xi research funding. Dr. Rowe has received multiple awards for academic and research excellence.
