Cassandra Olds is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Entomology at Kansas State University. Her research focuses on vector-pathogen-host interactions, tick vector competence, immune responses in cattle to vector-borne pathogens, and the role of filth flies in antimicrobial resistance spread. She holds a B.S. in Microbiology and Biochemistry (Rhodes University, 2004), a B.S. (Hons) in Microbiology (Rhodes University, 2005), an M.S. in Veterinary Science (University of Pretoria, 2008), and a Ph.D. in Microbiology (University of Basel, 2012).
Teaching responsibilities include courses such as ENTOM 305/306: Animal Health Entomology, ENTOM 649: Vector-Borne Pathogens, and extension-focused courses like GENAG200J: Small but mighty: how insects impact your world.
