Cassandra Flick is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of North Dakota, specializing in Psychology & Law and Experimental Psychology. She joined the faculty in August 2023. Dr. Flick holds a B.A. in Psychology and Criminal Justice from the University of Delaware, an M.A. in Forensic and Legal Psychology from Roger Williams University, and a Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology (with a focus on Psychology & Law) from the University of Wyoming, alongside a minor in statistics.
Her research focuses on decision-making biases within the U.S. legal system, examining how psychological theories and legal principles intersect to influence outcomes. Key areas include jury/juror decision-making, police use of force, and lay perceptions of legal processes. She aims to improve justice system fairness through evidence-based insights. Her interdisciplinary approach involves collaborations with scholars across fields.
Dr. Flick teaches courses such as Social Psychology (PSYC361), Cognitive Psychology (PSYC439), and specialized topics like the Psychology of the Courtroom (PSYC594) and Psychology of Law Enforcement (PSYC594). She is currently accepting graduate students.
