Carthene R. Bazemore-Walker

Carthene R. Bazemore-Walker is an Associate Teaching Professor at Wake Forest University's Department of Chemistry, focusing on proteomic methodologies and fostering inclusive academic communities. Her research combines liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry, and traditional biochemistry to study protein post-translational modifications and membrane protein localization. She holds a B.S. from Norfolk State University (summa cum laude), a Ph.D. from the University of Virginia (under Donald F. Hunt), and completed postdoctoral research at MIT (Lawrence J. Stern).

Her research interests span proteomic analysis of subcellular organelles, membrane protein dynamics, and creating equitable environments for academic success. Notable publications include work on Caulobacter crescentus proteomics, mitochondrial-associated membrane (MAM) proteomics, and interlaboratory glycoprotein studies.
