The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer CenterAbout
Dr. Carrie R Daniel-MacDougall is Associate Professor in the Department of Epidemiology within the Division of Cancer Prevention and Population Sciences at MD Anderson Cancer Center, where she also serves as Faculty Director of the Bionutrition Research Core. With adjunct appointments at UT School of Public Health and UT Graduate School of Biological Sciences, her research focuses on evidence-based dietary recommendations across the cancer continuum.
Her program integrates observational epidemiology with clinical trials to examine diet-microbiome-obesity interactions in cancer development and survivorship. Daniel-MacDougall investigates how dietary factors influence cancer risk in healthy populations and affect outcomes during/after treatment. Methodologically, she combines patient biospecimen analysis with clinical data to address complexities in nutrition-cancer relationships. Her work has expanded to examine inflammatory pathways connecting diet, gut microbiome, and cancer progression.
