Carrie Monje, Ph.D., serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Texas Tech University. Her primary focus is on curriculum development and management for foundational biology laboratory courses, catering to both Biology and non-Biology majors.
Research interests include biology education, laboratory instruction, and curriculum design for courses like BIOL 1402 (Biology of Animals), BIOL 1403 (Molecular Biology), and BIOL 1404 (Organismal Biology). She leads the Disciplined-based Biology Education Research group.
Selected publications are focused on model organism studies and science pedagogy, specifically using the Madagascar Hissing Cockroach for educational purposes in 2016 and 2017 editions.
