Carrie Demmans Epp

Carrie Demmans Epp is an Associate Professor in Computing Science at the University of Alberta's Faculty of Science, where she leads the EdTeKLA (Educational Technology, Knowledge, Language, and Learning Analytics) Research Group. Her research focuses on developing technologies to support learning, particularly for language acquisition and adaptive learning systems. She investigates learning analytics to inform educational decision-making and designs experimental learning environments.

She teaches undergraduate courses in human-computer interaction (CMPUT 302) and graduate courses in adaptive educational technologies (CMPUT 664). Her work employs techniques from software engineering, AI, and psychology to create learning technologies for diverse educational contexts.

Recent research explores mobile tool integration for learning, participatory design in educational technology development, and conversational agents for assessment. Her publications appear in educational technology, HCI, and learning analytics journals.
